Will Colorado's plastic bag ban work? Our report finds billions of bags will be eliminated in the years to come.

Single-use plastic bag

Our new report finds that Colorado’s plastic bag ban will result in 1.7 billion fewer bags each year.

Colorado’s single-use plastic bag ban went into effect January 1.

1.7 billion fewer plastic bags statewide will also mean saving 8.7 million gallons of oil and a 33% reduction in litter.

We need to reduce plastic bags because they are not biodegradable. They break into microplastics that will pollute our environment for decades. Last year, we found microplastics in every waterway that we tested in Colorado.
