Senior Advocacy Manager with Remake, New York
“My relationship to fashion has changed quite a bit throughout the years, from the magazine-inspired daydreams of my childhood and first jobs in retail, to studying fashion design at Parsons and then designing womenswear in NYC. The longer I worked in and studied the industry, the clearer it became that fashion is built upon a complex system of over-extraction, overproduction and exploitation, with corporations in the Global North profiting primarily off the backs of severely underpaid and climate vulnerable communities in the Global South.
As Senior Advocacy Manager at Remake, a nonprofit organization uniting the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry, my role sits at the intersection of advocacy and education. My work focuses on building real corporate accountability for the makers and ecosystems on which fashion depends and coordinating campaigns that center living wages and worker health and safety in South Asia. Through community and radical collaboration I believe that we can advocate for a better fashion system that both puts workers at the center and operates within our finite planetary boundaries.”
