Electrolux has recalled about 383,240 Frigidaire refrigerators because pieces of the ice maker can break into the ice bucket, which poses a risk of choking or cutting someone, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced. This follows a separate recall of 367,500 Electrolux and Frigidaire refrigerators in June 2022 for the same reason.

On the 17 models recalled Thursday, the company has received 343 complaints about plastic pieces breaking into the ice bucket; two resulted in injuries when the pieces were ingested.

The side-by-side refrigerators were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and other retailers nationwide from November 2015 through September 2019 for $1,400 to $2,400.

Consumers should stop using the ice makers and contact Electrolux for a new ice bucket assembly at no charge.

Complaints about these models go back to at least 2021, according to incidents reported in July 2021 and August 2021 on the CPSC’s saferproducts.gov site.

Back in June 2022, the company recalled about 367,500 Frigidaire and Electrolux refrigerators. The recall included 14 models – side-by-side models, ones with a top freezer and multi-door models. Then, a component of the ice maker could break into pieces and fall into the ice bucket, along with ice. The company received 185 complaints on this issue, including one involving cuts in a person’s mouth. They were sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and other stores nationwide from April 2020 through March 2022 for $1,200 to $4,300.
