How-to video on using the CFPB complaint database

Problems with your bank or credit report? Want to know how many other consumers have the same issue in your state or the entire country?

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s complaint database is public so you can search it.

Watch our 2 minute video to learn more. It shows you how to search complaints right on the CFPB’s government website CFPB.gov.

The video has helpful tips and hints:

  • You can search complaints by state in a map view.
  • You can look for complaint trends over time in charts. Reporters will like this feature.
  • And, you can read complaint narratives (consumer stories in their own words).
  • Finally, all this information is right there on your screen. The video also shows you how to download results onto your own computer for further analysis.

You can learn how to do it in less time than it took you to read this note!

Watch the video!
