CALPIRG advocacy garners support for the Right to Repair Act in LA County and LA City Council

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles City Council are taking steps to support SB 244 (Eggman), popularly known as the Right to Repair Act. After hearing from CALPIRG advocates, the LA Board of supervisors passed a motion to support the legislation.

In a parallel move, the Los Angeles City Council has introduced a resolution in support of the CALPIRG-backed Right to Repair bill. The resolution is set to be voted on in the coming weeks, presenting a crucial opportunity to solidify LA City’s position on the pro-consumer and pro-environment legislation.

The combined support from both LA County and LA City Council showcases the increasing popularity of the Right to Repair movement in California. The Right to Repair Act is already backed by Los Angeles Unified School District, 82 independent repair shops, 109 local elected officials, more than 50 environmental and consumer groups and various others across California.
