Olympia, WA— The Washington State Senate this morning concurred with the House on the Safe Baby Bottle Act (SSB 6248), which would ban the toxic chemical bisphenol A (BPA) from baby bottles, sippy cups, and other children’s products. The bill also bans BPA in sports bottles, making Washington the second state in the nation to deal with toxic sports bottles.

“This is a big victory for Washington’s kids,” stated WashPIRG Consumer and Democracy Advocate Blair Anundson. “Now we have to deal with BPA in other consumer products like canned foods. Congress is considering legislation to ban BPA in all consumer products, including canned goods, and WashPIRG strongly urges our delegation to co-sponsor the bill.”
