Right to repair

Tell the FTC: Stand up for Right to Repair

Staff | TPIN

It wasn’t that long ago when most consumer goods and business products were easily repaired with parts and service manuals that were widely available. But manufacturers of every electronic product from toasters to tractors have implemented various legal, software and physical barriers that stymie repair from owners or independent repair businesses.

It’s fueling a rise in electronic waste, the loss of independent repair businesses — and ultimately more cost and more waste for consumers.

We have a golden opportunity to push back, but need to act now. The Federal Trade Commission has opened up a public comment period until February 2, 2024. Join us and show support for the FTC using their rulemaking power to protect our Right to Repair.
