Food Fight

Earlier this year, MASSPIRG launched an effort with Clean Water Action MA to get Massachusetts to reduce food waste and divert all organics (food waste and leaf/yard waste) from disposal. From Plate to Planet is a joint campaign to push cities, towns, and the Commonwealth to adopt policies that prohibit the landfilling and incineration of this kind of waste. According to the MA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), more than 25% of waste that ends up in landfills and incinerators is organic.
