Jeanne Foy, Director of MASSPIRG's Consumer Action Center talks with QATV about our program to resolve consumer disputes.

Working  in cooperation with and funded by  the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, the MASSPIRG Consumer Action Center in Weymouth resolves disputes between consumers and businesses through negotiation, advocacy and education.

We cover a wide range of issues including rent and evictions; travel and event fees and cancellations; health club and gym fees; automobile sales and repair; home improvement transactions; debt collection and credit problems, among other consumer issues.

Since 1989, the CAC staff have mediated more than 23,000 complaints and returned more than $6.1 million to Massachusetts consumers.

There are no fees for our service.  We take complaints from residents living in the following communities: Braintree, Brookline, Canton, Dedham, Dover, Hingham, Holbrook, Medfield, Milton, Needham, Newton, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Rockland, Walpole, Wellesley, Weston, Westwood, and Weymouth.

Consumers can call us at 781-335-0280, or file a complaint on line through the Office of Attorney General. Note: Telephonic interpreters are available for non-English language consumers.

The Consumer Action Center provides consumer information, complaint assistance, and referrals — we do not provide legal advice or opinions.
