Clean, Affordable Buildings Ordinance Petition

Nearly 1 in 5 Chicagoans are behind on their Peoples Gas bills, and in some communities, up to 50% of customers are in debt to the utility. Now, after breaking profit records for six straight years, Peoples Gas is pushing a record $402 million rate hike to pay for its failing pipe-replacement program.

Worse, the rate hike could make us more dependent on polluting fossil fuel infrastructure and make the transition to clean energy homes that much more challenging.

The Clean, Affordable Buildings Ordinance would save Chicagoans money and reduce harmful air and climate pollution through a plan for cheaper, cleaner, and safer ways to heat and power our homes.
