New Year’s resolutions to help you save money and avoid scams in 2024

Just in time for New Year’s, we’ve added a couple of new resolutions to consider as scams get more sophisticated. This is a two- to three-minute read on ways to help boost your finances and protect your personal information.

New to the list:

• If you want to contact a company’s customer service department, say a bank or airline, remember to never just do an online search and click on a link or call a phone number without verifying you’re on a legit website. Scammers increasingly are setting up imposter websites with copycat logos.

• Remember, and remind your loved ones, that gift cards are for gifts, not to pay bills, taxes or legal fees, or to get discounts on other purchases.
