Colorado legislators: No more hidden “processing,” “resort” or “convenience” fees

Companies are increasingly charging mandatory fees with all kinds of names like “service” fee, “environmental” fee, “resort” fee, “administrative” fee, “processing” fee and the frustratingly named “convenience” fee. Too often these fees are not disclosed until after you pick what you are going to buy and go to check out.

If something is $29.99 but there is a $20 fee that you’ll pay no matter what, the price is really $49.99 and that should be disclosed up front with the price.

Colorado is considering a bill – HB24-1151 – that will require exactly that. Tell your legislators to vote yes.
