Tell the EPA: Monitor and limit microplastics

Microplastics have spread throughout our environment and have been found in the water we drink. They’ve also been detected in human blood, lungs and other organs, while emerging research has raised concerns about their potential health effects.

The EPA has acknowledged microplastics as a drinking water contaminant, but acknowledgment must be followed by action. We need reliable data showing where these particles are present and at what levels, along with enforceable standards that limit our exposure.

I urge the EPA to not only include microplastics in its upcoming drinking water monitoring rule, but also establish protective limits on how much microplastic pollution can be present in the water we drink.
