Ocean Day Webinar Series: Current issues in plastic waste reduction

On Monday May 15th, CALPIRG organized a webinar to share the latest on what Californians are doing to address the plastic waste crisis. Groups from across the state provided updates on current legislation that would reduce unnecessary single-use plastic items, address microplastics in our waters, and stop harmful burning of plastic waste, as well as learn the problems with so-called “chemical recycling” and “biodegradable plastic.”

Speakers included representatives from leading groups working to address plastic waste – CALPIRG, Californians Against Waste, GAIA, and 5 Gyres.
