Tell the FTC: Stop tech companies from selling kids’ data
Right now, there are no rules stopping tech companies from monetizing the data of kids and teens.
More than 300,000 children’s cups sold on Amazon recalled for too much lead
Imported cups by Cupkin sold for about $20 starting in 2018.
About 346,000 children’s insulated cups have been recalled for exceeding the federal lead content ban, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Lead is dangerous if ingested by children; it can cause brain damage and other neurological problems.
The items are Cupkin Double-Walled Stainless Steel Children’s Cups. The 8-oz. and 12-oz cups were manufactured improperly. They were sold in pairs, in different color combinations, with a matching straw. “Cupkin” is printed on the cup. They were sold on Amazon’s and Cupkin’s websites from January 2018 through March 2023 for about $20.
Consumers are advised to not allow children to use the cups and to contact Soojimus for a refund. Soojimus and Amazon are also contacting known purchasers directly.
It was manufactured by Soojimus LLC, doing business as Cupkin.
Children’s products, meaning toys, clothing or any other product for children 12 and under, must comply with a host of much stricter rules than other products, including restrictions on small parts and lead content. In addition, federal law mandates that every children’s product pass testing at a CPSC-accepted laboratory.

Consumers can check on recalls announced by the CPSC at www.cpsc.gov/Recalls and look up complaints about products that haven’t been recalled at saferproducts.gov
