Since the mid-1980s, the Trouble in Toyland report has looked at trends to determine the potential dangers facing our children each holiday season. As holiday shopping gets underway, CALPIRG Education Fund will hold a virtual news conference to discuss the findings of this year’s 38th annual Trouble in Toyland report.

This year’s report focuses on privacy and other dangers associated with smart toys, the problems with newly popular water beads, as well as dangerous recalled toys that can still be purchased through mainstream retailers.

The panelists will discuss the dangers, give a live demonstration of several recalled toys and offer helpful tips to protect children of all ages.

Speakers

  • Jenn Engstrom, CALPIRG State Director
  • Assemblymember Buffy Wicks
  • Helen Arbogast, DrPH, MPH, Manager of Injury Prevention, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
  • Rachel Franz, Education Manager at Fairplay
