Tell Amazon: Don’t junk older Kindle models
Amazon CEO Andy Jassey:
On May 20, Amazon is planning to cut off support for 13 Kindle models: every Kindle made before 2013, including the original Paperwhite and four Kindle Fires. Owners won’t be able to download a new book, or buy anything from the Kindle Store ever again. What’s most frustrating is these devices won’t even be able to borrow a digital book from your local public library.
The hardware still works. The screens still turn on. The batteries still hold a charge. Amazon has just decided to cut them off from downloading new books, and could create more unnecessary electronic waste in the process.
We urge you to keep supporting these 13 Kindles, and allow them to connect to the Kindle Store.
