Statement by WISPIRG Director Peter Skopec:
“The state has to shift its transportation investment priorities, and scrapping this expansion is the right way to go. Young people today are less car-focused than previous generations, and the Milwaukee region’s aging population will need non-driving alternatives to get around. Expanding I-94 would waste taxpayer money without addressing these changing transportation needs and preferences. WISDOT should go back to the drawing board and develop a plan that fixes the highway without expansion and includes a modern rapid transit network for the region, like the plan WISPIRG outlined in 2014.”
