Plastic Free Washington Community Clean-up Day
We’ve all seen firsthand the impacts of plastic on our communities and wildlife in our state: that plastic flosser on the ground, the little bits of broken up polystyrene foam on the beach, or discarded wrappers floating in the wind. Plastic production continues to increase, yet our landfills are overflowing, and our recycling systems are inadequate, made apparent by low and declining recycling rates.
It can be hard to know where to begin, but we all want to make a difference.
One step you can take is to join the Plastic Free Washington coalition’s Make a Difference Day Cleanup. Events will take place in eight cities across the state, and in addition to cleaning up our own communities, you’ll hear from advocates and elected officials about ways that we can not only clean up pollution, but take action to prevent it in the first place.
This registration page is for our Seattle event, but you can email the event coordinator Pam Clough at [email protected] if you’re interested in finding out more about events in other cities.
