The NYTimes reports that “When Customers Say Their Money Was Stolen on Zelle, Banks Often Refuse to Pay.” We did a PIRG/Frontier Group report last year on consumer complaints to the CFPB about Zelle and similar so-called P2P apps. One difference is that many P2P apps are owned by fintechs, but Zelle is owned by a consortium of the nation’s biggest banks.
