FTC holds public forum on the risks of commercial data practices

Today the Federal Trade Commission is holding a public forum on commercial surveillance and lax data security practices. The event comes after the agency announced last month it was seeking public comments for its proposed rulemaking to rein in the unmitigated collection, sale and use of personal data by corporate actors and the risks and harms that come with these practices.

The event will be broadcast virtually. You can find the link and more information here

U.S. PIRG will be speaking in support for the FTC’s actions to protect our personal data during the public comments portion of the event.
