New peer-reviewed research has linked a mother’s exposure to PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) during pregnancy to lower sperm count and quality for male children later in life.

PFAS are a class of more than 12,000 chemicals used to make products water, stain and heat resistant in a wide variety of industries. Also known as “forever chemicals” because they do not break down naturally and therefore build up in our bodies and the environment, PFAS disrupt hormones and the development of a fetus in utero, leading to decreased fertility later in life. PFAS exposure has also been linked to other serious health effects including kidney and liver damage, decreased immunity and cancer.

These chemicals are so widely used that it is estimated that 98% of Americans have them in their blood.

Read more about the study in this article and tell your elected officials to turn off the tap on PFAS here.
