Governor Polis rolls out steps to tackle high energy bills fueled by gas price spikes

Strategies include updating regulatory measures around building and energy codes, getting more people access to assistance programs and ratcheting up efficiency measures to reduce reliance on gas.

Today, Governor Polis outlined strategies for lowering energy bills in Colorado. As consumers across the state have largely watched their bills climb over the few month because of the volatility of gas prices,

In addition to improving access to and capacity of bill paying assistance programs, he advocated for expediting the creation of federally funded home energy rebates to help consumers lower overall costs and manage bill spikes.

Working with the Colorado Energy Office, Governor Polis announced he will implement new state building performance standards, new statewide building energy codes with technical assistance for property owners, and use state and federal funding for microgrid programs.
