MASSPIRG’s Deirdre Cummings talked with Boston25News reporter Jason Law about problems with airline travel and offered tips on how to both deal with and avoid the worst travel problems.

According to our new report, The Plane Truth, the number of people who traveled on U.S. airlines last year remained below pre-pandemic 2019 levels. But consumer complaints about air travel in 2022 nearly quadrupled compared with 2019. And that doesn’t even include complaints from December, when poor airline performance spoiled many families’ holidays.

In a nutshell, just about everything got worse in 2022: complaints, cancellations, delays, involuntary bumping and baggage handling – all while the number of air travelers for the full year of 2022 was below 2019 levels.

MASSPIRG offered air travel tips and tools for consumers.
