A chemical linked to cancer shouldn’t be allowed in our food. And yet, action to get toxic Red Dye #3 out of the nearly 3,000 brand-name products that list it as an ingredient has been consistently delayed.
Most recently, industry groups have urged the FDA to hold off on issuing a decision on Red 3 that the agency itself said it would make this spring. So PIRG has been raising the call in the media, in the public and among experts and coalition partners for the FDA to act. Already, we’ve driven nearly 20,000 messages to the FDA.
