We’re at a critical moment in the effort to move the meat industry away from antibiotic overuse.

When factory farms use these lifesaving medicines excessively and indiscriminately to produce meat, they’re gambling with the health of anyone who might need antibiotics in the future. That’s why McDonald’s taking some steps forward to reduce antibiotic use in its beef supply chain is such welcome news — but our work is far from over.

At PIRG, we’ll continue working to ensure McDonald’s meets its antibiotic reduction targets (and sets an aggressive timetable for reporting its progress).
