Does burning plastic count as recycling? Of course not, but the plastics industry has coined the term “advanced recycling” as a way to bypass Clean Air Act laws that regulate incinerators.

The plastics industry is actively seeking to change existing law so that plastics incinerators can operate without meeting the environmental and health protections of the Clean Air Act.
