Medical debt doesn’t belong on credit reports
A hospital trip or other expensive, unexpected medical emergency is already stressful enough without worrying about what medical debt could do to your credit score.
A recent rulemaking by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) would protect patients from lower credit scores as a result of unavoidable medical bills. But Congress is considering blocking the rule before it can go into effect.
