On Wednesday May 14, MASSPIRG, as a steering committee member of the  Election Modernization Coalition (EMC) launched the coalition’s “make every vote count” campaign in the Massachusetts State House. Over two dozen organizations came together to call on the Legislature to pass reforms that would modernize voting in Massachusetts.

While we are a state that prides itself on using our ideas, our technology, and our resources to make life better; we’re behind 20 other states and the District of Columbia, all offering same day voter registration, while we have a 10 day deadline. Barriers for for voters with disabilities and unnecessary paperwork also need to be eliminated.

The coalition will be pushing hard during the 2025-26 legislation session for these reforms.
