Our neighbor to the north just took a huge step closer to zero waste: The Canadian government announced that it will ban the manufacture and import of most single-use plastic products.

In the U.S., local jurisdictions such as New York City and states from Virginia to Washington have imposed plastic bans. But as a whole, the country has yet to enact any comprehensive legislation to minimize plastic pollution, despite our nation’s enormous plastic pollution problem.
