Virtual forum to discuss vaccinating children against COVID-19

Media Contacts

Hampden County, Mass. — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, based on data demonstrating the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness among this age group. On Tuesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) followed that decision by recommending vaccinations against COVID-19 for all children in that age group. These actions come at a critical time, as the number of COVID-19 cases among children remains extremely high. However, a recent study found that only 34% of parents plan to vaccinate their 5- to 11-year old children immediately.
