Groups to Congress: oppose attacks on energy efficiency
Partisan bills that aim to block common-sense energy efficiency standards would raise utility costs for consumers, harm our health and the environment.
U.S. PIRG and Environment America and their state organizations sent to a letter members of the U.S. House of Representatives urging members of Congress to vote no on a suite of bills that would block common-sense energy efficiency standards.
“The cleanest, most affordable energy is the energy we do not use,” the letter read. “Americans of all stripes overwhelmingly support energy efficiency and conservation measures that cut energy waste and save consumers money.”
The groups urged lawmakers to oppose 6 specific bills that if passed, would increase energy waste and drive up utility bills, by undermining the federal government’s ability to set reasonable efficiency standards for common household appliances.
