Tell the FTC: Stop tech companies from selling kids’ data
Right now, there are no rules stopping tech companies from monetizing the data of kids and teens.
Product safety alerts, consumer resources, increased protection and more.
In some ways it has never been easier to be a consumer. We can comparison shop from our sofa, send money electronically in seconds and access every type of account we have from our phone or laptop 24 hours a day.
But today’s marketplace is also full of hidden dangers that can threaten our health, safety and financial security. Unfortunately, regulators too often fail to identify and remove unsafe products, stop unfair practices or act to ensure a level playing field for consumers.
That’s why for more than 50 years, PIRG Consumer Watchdogs have been educating consumers about how to protect themselves and their rights. We’re working to prevent unsafe products from entering the marketplace, implementing new rules that could protect us from Illegal robocalls, fixing our broken food recall system, and getting consumers the tools they need to protect themselves from unfair travel practices.
Right now, there are no rules stopping tech companies from monetizing the data of kids and teens.
