Advocating for stronger clean air standards

Today I had the opportunity to join coalition partners Environmental Law and Policy Center and Respiratory Health Association in making a public comment to the Office of Management and Budget and Environmental Protection Agency concerning enacting tighter clean air standards.

Specifically, we encouraged them to strengthen regulations of small particulate matter, which poses especially high health risks because it can end up deep in the lungs.

My comments included our 2021 report, Trouble in the Air, which found that more than one in six Americans, 58.4 million people, suffered through more than 100 days of elevated air pollution in 2020.

We are hopeful that stronger standards will be announced in the coming weeks.

You can also take action today, by urging EPA Administrator Michael Regan to tighten clean air rules.
