National Pollinator Week 2022 is June 20-26! Join us in-person on Thursday, 6/23 at 1 pm, as we partner with Environment Illinois and state representative Anna Moeller to host an educational tour that highlights one of the threats pollinators face: volatile herbicides that don’t just stay where they’re sprayed, but instead drift for miles, spreading their toxic effects and damaging farms, homes, and public lands across the state. Register here to join us!
Who: Representative Anna Moeller, Illinois PIRG, Environment Illinois, Illinois Environmental Council, Prairie Rivers Network, & more. Anyone who is interested in this issue is welcome to attend!
What: An overview of the problem from University of Illinois agriculture extension program experts, a tour of a damaged property to give you the tools you need to recognize the signs of herbicide damage, a discussion of solutions with state representative Anna Moeller and activist organizations, and opportunities to take actions to make change!
When: Thursday, 6/23 at 1 pm
Where: Elgin, IL. Once you complete the registration form, you will receive an email with the address. We are not disclosing it to anyone who is not registered because the event is at a private home.
Why: Because Illinoisans shouldn’t have to bear the toxic consequences of their neighbors’ decisions to use volatile, toxic herbicides. Further, to protect our pollinators and our environment we need to stop using herbicides recklessly, starting with tackling the worst ones. Both the EPA and the Illinois state legislature have an opportunity to take action. It’s up to Illinoisans like you to make sure they do.
