“Chemical recycling” fails to produce hardly any recycled plastic at all, even as it emits toxic chemicals and dirty fossil fuel emissions in the process. Yet the plastic and oil and gas industries are touting it as a miracle cure for the mountains of plastic waste sitting in landfills, oceans and our communities.

We’re calling for real solutions to plastic pollution — plastic bans, producer responsibility, sustainable alternatives — and pushing back against deceptive distractions like “chemical recycling.”
