Students deserve a safe ride to school, yet most school buses on the road today run on diesel. Diesel exhaust has been linked to cancer, respiratory disorders like asthma, and reduced academic performance.

Electric school buses are the safest and healthiest choice for students. Not only do they result in better air quality and healthier kids, but they can also play a key role in cutting greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the environmental benefits, electric school buses have the potential to lower maintenance and fuel costs over time compared to diesel. And the best news is – electric school bus technology is here today and effectively serving the needs of students all across the country.

PIRG held a briefing to discuss how state legislators can help accelerate the transition to all-electric school buses.
