A medical professional with Physicians for Social Responsibility provides testimony in support of legislation requiring warning labels on gas stoves

When it comes time to put food on the table, many Americans rely on their gas stove. But many people don’t know that this daily routine can create indoor pollution levels that exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s standards for outdoor air quality. More than four decades of research shows that gas stoves produce dangerous air pollutants, including harmful levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and benzene, a known carcinogen. Exposure to these pollutants can worsen symptoms for people with respiratory illnesses, and even increase the risk of developing asthma.

Join PIRG and Physicians for Social Responsibility for a webinar on how state policy-makers can educate constituents about the health risks of gas stoves through legislation requiring warning labels.

Speakers include California Assemblymember Pellerin, Stanford Scientist Rob Jackson, and Illinois State Representative Stava-Murray.
