Transform Transportation

Sun Valley community members highlight the impact of removing I-25 widening from state’s transportation plan

Shifting dollars away from more highway lanes and to transit and safety improvements reduce air pollution and open up options.

Right after the Colorado Department of Transportation officially removed I-25 widening from their construction plans and shifted over $100 million into transit and safety projects, advocates with CoPIRG Foundation, Conservation Colorado and the Denver Streets Partnership spoke with community members and leaders in Sun Valley, one of the neighborhoods that abuts the interstate.

Pollution from highways has a bigger impact on people living near highways and Sun Valley residents have asthma rates that are over 250% of the state average.
