Stanley has recalled 2.6 million stainless steel travel mugs in the United States because the threads on the lids can shrink and cause the lid to come off, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced. The company received 91 complaints, including 16 in the United States, of the lids detaching during use. That has led to 38 burn injuries, 11 which needed medical attention.
Customers should stop using the mugs and contact Stanley to receive a free replacement lid.
The products, called Switchback and Trigger Action mugs, were sold through Amazon, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target, Walmart and other stores nationwide and online for $20 to $50. They were sold from June 2016 through December 2024.
The double-walled mugs came in three sizes — 12, 16 and 20 ounces — and were sold in white, black, green and other colors. The Stanley logo appears on the front and bottom of the mug. The product identification numbers for the recalled mugs, listed here, are on the bottom of the mug.
The mugs were manufactured in China and imported by PMI WW Brands LLC, dba Stanley 1913, of Seattle, Wash.
