Young environmentalists patches
Download printable patches to celebrate the completion of one of our action toolkits for young environmentalists.
These patches are designed for scouts, environmental clubs and other young environmentalists that use our action toolkits.
Thank you for using our action toolkits for young environmentalists. We hope you learned more about our natural world and how to protect our clean air, clean water, wildlife and climate. You can download printable “patches” to celebrate the completion of each toolkit on the left side of this page.
These patches are a great way to recognize your accomplishment and share what you’ve learned with your family, scout group or club. Print, cut out and color the patch and post it on your refrigerator, group bulletin board, window or inside your planner.
More patches will be coming soon!
Want to take your patches to the next level?
With help from an adult, turn your printable patch into something you can put on your backpack or jacket with embroidery.
- Print the design. If you are new to embroidery, we recommend starting with the simplified patch designs as you gain sewing skills.
- Trace the design onto fabric. Use a light table or a window to shine light through from behind the design. You may need to select a light color fabric to be able to view the design enough to trace it.
- Embroider the design using a backstitch or other stitch of your choice. You will likely want an embroidery hoop to keep the fabric taut while you are stitching.
- Cut the fabric to the patch shape with ¼ in around the outside and finish the edge by folding the excess to the back and using a blanket stitch. If you want your patch to be stiffer, use felt or another thick fabric as a backing.
- Attach the patch by stitching it to the item you have chosen. You can use a running stitch just on the inside of the blanket stitch border through all layers of fabric to secure them together.
