Tell CDOT: Keep expanding transit service across the state
Coloradans need more and better transit service to travel the state.
The ski train provides an option to avoid battling I-70 traffic and unsafe driving conditions in the winter.
We’re applauding Amtrak for ramping up service from Denver to Winter Park this winter, with funding support from Colorado’s Department of Transportation.
The Winter Park Express, also known as the “ski train,” will offer rides from Denver Union Station to Winter Park on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, now through March 31.
According to Amtrak, one-way fares start at $19, with kids fares (age 2 – 12) starting at just $9.50.
Everyone who’s ever tried to go skiing along I-70 has a horror story of traffic gridlock and unsafe drivers. And construction around Floyd Hill will make driving unreliable for the next few years.
The Winter Park Express provides a safe, reliable option that also reduces pollution by reducing the number of cars polluting our beautiful mountain communities.
The train also has bathrooms and hot drinks – offering a fun and comfortable way to travel especially if you ski with kids.
If you are looking to go to Winter Park this winter, you should CLIMB ABOARD the ski train!
