Toxic threats

Tell the Environmental Protection Agency: Don’t put radioactive waste on our roads.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan,

I urge you to reject Florida’s proposal to use radioactive phosphogypsum in road construction.

Since 1992, the EPA has rightfully rejected the use of radioactive material in roads as exposing the public to unacceptable health risks. Florida has allowed phosphate mining companies to generate billions of tons of waste. Approval of the state’s pilot project would clearly pave the way towards radioactive roads across the Sunshine State, exposing millions of people to harm.

Mining companies should clean up their mess without dumping it on our roads.

I urge you to reject this proposal and keep us safe from radioactive waste.
