U.S. PIRG Corporate Campaigns Director

U.S. PIRG, the federation of state Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs), is creating the new position of National Corporate Campaign Director to oversee the market-based campaigns of the state PIRGs and related organizations, including Ecopledge and The Green Life.

We’re looking for a talented and dedicated individual who will bring creative ideas and gumption to our work on direct corporate engagement. The director’s responsibilities will include:

• Developing strategies and specific campaigns to promote the state PIRGs’ environmental and public interest agenda through the use of corporate campaigns;
• Overseeing and working alongside 2-5 staff who work full-time on corporate campaigns;
• Training advocacy staff around the country on the use of market-based campaigns;
• Promoting collaboration for days of action, sign-on letters, sign-on ads, etc.;
• Promoting coordination between PIRG organizations and other market campaign groups;
• Serving as a clearinghouse for information, problem solving, etc;
• Conducting media outreach and communications;
• Fundraising to support the general corporate campaign program as well as specific corporate engagements.

Qualifications
To fulfill this new and vital role within the PIRG network, we seek applicants who possess a strong commitment to public interest and environmental issues, a track-record of success waging corporate campaigns, and experience with organizational development and strategic planning.

• The ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere; and
• A willingness to engage in conflict in creative and strategic ways.

Previous advocacy experience, a fighting spirit, and a sense of humor are also required. Candidates for this position should have five or more years of relevant professional experience. (Advanced degrees, including a JD or masters in related fields, may count toward a candidate's professional experience.)

Salary & Benefits
Salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful candidate's relevant professional experience.
